Sqrt(ur mother)- aka Brian Miller, is an electronic musician born and raised in Asheville, NC. An original member of Discount Plastic Surgery and current operations director at BFC, he has spent time living in Chapel Hill, NC and in Sevilla, Spain. An early background in drums (blame the cool as drummer of Alabama and his fashions in the 80’s) and loud annoying noises, sqrt classically trained himself in the percussive techniques of Western Musical culture. He performed in a small space jazz trio called 165th Motorized Slacker Battalion with fellow BFC members NYF and brephophagist, where he began to integrate audio technology at a musical inspiration, influence, and instrument. In 2001, sqrt joined the Asheville based band DPS which wrecked havoc on the hippy grassroots musical scene that existed. In 2004, he took responsibility for the day to day operations of BFC. Currently spends non-electronic time with goat skin hand drums, toenail shakers, and looking for graffiti.

Musically, his tracks create ambient canvases with a noise drum splattering of pigment through out. He enjoys remixing, comfortable headphones, bobbing heads, home made distortion pedals, live performances, and roadies. In addition to the 2 DPS releases, he released the 2003 album “sumbur” (now available for free download on the steal page) and appeared on the BFC compilations “the polycarbonate release” , “Cloud Control,” and the download EP “OPP, Other Peoples Phonics.” In 2007 sqrt also released the download EP “Jar full of afterbirth”. In 2008, sqrt released the Brian Eno/Cahse Money RollamiX. Credits also include mastering engineer for the NYF, IBMR, and Cloud Control releases.
